Agenda Item [#] – Resolution to Authorize Department of Southern California Charter Application

Whereas, Section 501 of the National Bylaws empowers members to form a new Department charter upon organization of twenty-five (25) or more Posts with a total membership of at least one thousand (1,000) members in any State, Territory, Foreign Possession or Country; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That members of Post [INSERT #] hereby authorize the Commander, or any successor, to execute a new Department charter application upon mutual consent of the necessary quantity of posts and members; 

Resolved, That the charter application shall identify the new Department as Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Southern California (VFW SoCal); 

Resolved, That invitation to join VFW SoCal is extended to all posts located throughout the Southern California region including Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Imperial counties; and

Resolved, That submission of [INSERT DATE] meeting minutes and an Online Membership System post query report with member age, address, phone and email information redacted is authorized for the purpose of certifying new Department formation requirements.
